Dogs are companions.

Confidantes.

Playmates. Protectors.

Comic Relief.

And So Much More!

For all that your dog is to you, Sit n' Stay helps you develop the loving respectful relationship everyone desires with their furry family member.

Dogs play many parts in our lives, but none is more important than the role of “member of the family.” The relationship with your dog will last 12 or more years, if you’re lucky, and will be one of the most important ones in your life. As with all relationships, it requires attention and effort to make it the best it can be.

Our mission is to help you create the loving, respectful, fun, and meaningful relationship you and your dog deserve through positive reinforcement and feel-good obedience training methods.

Do you feel like you’re always stressed, yelling at the dog or punishing her for unruly behavior?

Do you stress about keeping a watchful eye on the kids for fear the dog might get too “playful?”

Does it seem like your dog just doesn’t listen or understand what you want from him?

“It was helpful to know the things that I was unconsciously doing that would reinforce behaviors in the long term. The training helped me realize that some of the things that I was doing might be fun in the short term, they’re probably not a great idea for long-term training.”

– Kathryn Kendall

“Dogs are members of the family. Period.”

At Sit ‘n Stay, we believe this wholeheartedly!

Celebrate life with a dog!

Sit ‘n Stay Dog Training is here to help!

I’m ready for a well-behaved dog!

The risks of NOT training your dog to be
well-mannered are too costly, emotionally and financially.

Unruly Dogs

  • cause stress in the home, stress that can spill over into other relationships and other aspects of your life.
  • jump up on people, “mouth,” dash out the door, or pull on the leash, endangering you, themselves, and others.
  • force you to leave them at home when you vacation, cause stress when you walk in your neighborhood, and make family activities with your dog impossible.
  • are destructive, chewing on things other than toys and digging holes in the yard.

But perhaps the biggest cost of not training your dog is having to consider the heartbreaking decision to rehome or surrender your dog to a shelter.

“We look at dog training with a wider lens. Every dog that stays in its home is one less dog that ends up in a shelter or euthanized. Training people and their dogs keeps them out of shelters and in their homes as valued, trusted family members.”

– Kim Sauer, Founder, CEO, and Certified Trainer

Having a dog is a gift. And when the relationship between dogs and people is healthy and balanced, the rewards are endless. Our vision is that everyone who wants a dog can have the confidence to bring one into their home and teach it how to become a fully integrated member of the family, able to participate in all of life’s greatest pleasures. Dogs belong in families, not in shelters. Our mission is to provide the support and training every dog needs so that it never finds itself without a home.

It’s not only what you train that’s important, but also HOW you train.

Learn a new language...how to speak “dog!”

Understanding how your dog thinks, considering their breed characteristics, and using gentle but effective training methods will take your dog from wild-child to well-mannered in a way you BOTH feel good about.

At Sit ‘n Stay Dog Training, we believe that families who choose to bring a dog into their lives are making a commitment to provide for the safety, health, and well-being of their dogs and the people who love them. Well-mannered dogs fit easily into their families, bringing stress levels down and bringing love, fun, play, and joy UP!

“Instead of having a relationship with your dog where you're constantly correcting, your dog has already learned those things so you can have more of a companion. It takes the stress out of that relationship. You learn your own bad habits and that's super important with the dogs.”

– Kristine Dickenson

Hi! I’m Kim.

I understand your needs because I’ve been in your shoes and my dogs have walked the same paths. It’s my passion to help people create healthy, balanced relationships with their dogs so that everyone in the family, dogs included, can live their best lives.

I believe...

  • Pets are part of the family. Period.
  • Force is never necessary.
  • Every troublesome issue can be improved.
  • Good training means people and their dogs can achieve success on their own long after the classes are over.
  • The use of prong, choke, shock collars, and harsh training methods are counterproductive to training and should never be used.
  • Dogs have an opinion and a point of view that should be honored as a part of the solution.

“I don't want my dogs to ever experience any kind of pain, so it was nice that we found a solution that was effective without having to use harsh collars or training methods.”

– Julie Doud Mazur
